Stad means city or town

Stad is the word for city or town, used in Swedish, Danish, Dutch, Afrikaans, Mathibestad is the Royal Capital of Bahwaduba and the Seat of Moretele Local Municipality.

Moretele Local Municipality offices  are located in an area called Moretele in Mathibestad,Moretele Local Municipality is situated north of Pretoria in Northwest Province .The Municipality was established in 2000 and covers an area of 1369Km2.  

Moretele is  located strategically to join four provinces, namely North West, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo. Moretele is the Setswana name for a river that runs through the area, namely Noka ya Moretele (the Moretele River).

The Moretele Local Municipality has a total population of 186 947. The Municipality comprises 26 wards, which are made up of 74 villages and plots. Most villages are ruled by 4 traditional leaders(Dikgosi) who are recognized by law and who all represent their respective tribes/communities in council.

The City of Tshwane

The City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality, also known as the City of Tshwane, is the metropolitan municipality that forms the local government of northern Gauteng in South Africa. The metropolitan area is centred on the city of Pretoria with surrounding towns and localities included in the local government area.

City of Tshwane was renamed after  Chief Tshwane a Ndebele Chief ,who was Son of Mohwaduba, Mohwaduba Son of King Musi, a Ndebele king  who led his people from Maponong to what later became known as Transvaal, settling first east of the city at the origin of Moretele River., later Moving to what is now Pretoria.
